OMG this recipe is fabulous! It seems complicated – but it’s not! Serve warm with vanilla ice cream – I promise you’ll love it – and your guests will, too!
Ingredients
- CRUST
- 1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 Tbs ground cinnamon
- 1 Tbs vanilla extract
- FILLING
- 6 apples, various types, peeled, cored, cut into small chunks
- 1/8 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- TOPPING
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup lightly packed brown sugar
- 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- pinch kosher salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350
- Lightly grease a 9x13 baking pan
- Crust: Mix melted butter, oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla and salt in a large bowl until combined. Press evenly into greased pan. Bake approx 17-20 minutes or until sides start browning. Remove from oven, place on a cooling rack.
- Filling: Combine apples, sugar, and cinnamon in a large bowl. Mix until combined. Pour the caramel sauce over the apples, stir to coat. Pour evenly on top of the crust.
- Topping: Mix the flour, nuts, brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon and salt in a large bowl. Press small pieces out flat and place on top of the filling.
- Bake at 350 until caramel is bubbling and topping is browned, about 30-35 minutes.
- Cool an hour, serve with ice cream.
