I figured I’d try a new bread last night – had some friends over for dinner and figured I’d use them as guinea pigs!
🙂
I picked out this bread as it just sounded good. A little like Challah bread from the eggs and such.. Gosh it was so good!
Recipe:
2 eggs plus enough water to equal 1 1/3 cups
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbs butter
1/3 cup softened butter (only use REAL butter)
4 cups bread flour (only use bread flour)
1 1/2 tsp yeast
Carefully place all ingredients in bread machine pan in the ordered above. Yeast goes in a small well in the middle of the flour.
Select Yeast setting. (Mine takes about 45 minutes.)
When complete, remove from pan, place in greased metal bowl, cover with aluminum foil.
I then place the bread in a warmed oven (heat mine to lowest temp possible and then turn the oven off). It typically takes about 45 minutes to rise.
I then take the dough out, and form it into either rolls or long loaves and place in french bread pan to rise once again.
Then I bake at 350-375 until lightly brown and it sounds hollow when you tap on it.
Cool for a few minutes, then slice. I use an electric knife to slice mine so it doesn’t get smashed.
Enjoy!
🙂
PS the guests loved it – I sent them home with quite a bit and apparently it’s really good toasted with peanut butter on top!
