Creamy Moist Chocolate Cake Recipe

This may be one of the BEST chocolate cake recipes EVER!!!!  YUM!

Secret ingredient – mayonnaise 🙂


shortening (for greasing cake pan)

2 cups all purpose flour

2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa

1 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp baking powder

3 large eggs

1 2/3 cups firmly packed brown sugar

2 tsp vanilla

1 cup good quality mayonnaise

1 1/3 cup hot water
Preheat oven to 350.  Grease (with shortening) and flour a 13×9 inch pan.

Whisk together flour, cocoa, baking soda, salt, and baking powder.

In a stand mixer, beat eggs, sugar, and vanilla.  Beat for about 3-4 minutes or until mixture is light brown.  Add mayonnaise, beating on low until just combined.

Add flour mixture to egg mixture alternately with hot water, beginning with flour, ending with flour mixture.  Beat until just blended after each addition.

Pour batter into prepared pan.  Bake at 350 for about 30-35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
