Don’t you just LOVE freshly baked bread? And the smell in the house is so homey, so comforting, right? Yummy! Yum scrum! This recipe is so delicious. I debated about tossing in some roasted garlic but then thought we’d use some for french toast and so that wouldn’t have been good at all. 😉
Ingredients
- 1 1/3 cups warm water (about 110 degrees)
- 1 1/2 tsp olive oil
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 cups all purpose flour (I have used bread flour as well but the all purpose is fine!)
- 1 Tbs light brown sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp yeast
- 1 Tbs cornmeal
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbs water
Instructions
- Layer first 6 ingredients in bread maker pan, with the yeast in a well at the top
- Press the dough option and allow the cycle to complete
- Prepare baking pan with parchment paper, sprinkle 2 areas with the cornmeal
- Remove the dough from the pan, place on floured board
- Punch down, separate into 2 same size pieces
- Roll each piece into an 8x14 area
- Roll up, place seam side down on parchment paper that was sprinkled with cornmeal
- Cover with damp cloth and allow to rise for approximately 40-50 minutes, preheat oven to 375 while loaves are rising
- Once dough has risen, beat the egg with 1 Tbs of water, brush over loaves
- Using a sharp knife, quickly make a slice down the center of each loaf
- Ensure the loaves are not sticking to the paper, if so, loosen with a spatula
- Place into preheated oven, bake for 30-35 minutes or until they sound hollow when lightly rapped with fingers
As always, enjoy!
